Gear up for the Marathon!

Here comes the Beethoven Opus 18 Marathon!

When: June 19th, every hour on the hour from 1-6pm.

Where: Numbers 1 and 2 at the Vashon Presbyterian Church

Numbers 3 and 4 at the Episcopal Church

Numbers 5 and 6 at the Methodist Church

All on Vashon Highway! All on the same day!

Why: To celebrate the completion of the first year of the Vashon Beethoven Quartet Project and to benefit the programs of Vashon Chamber Music- community concerts, senior concerts and children’s concerts, as well as scholarships for the Vashon Island String Camp this August 9-14.

Admission: Free will donation.

Final Beethoven Concert!

Please join us for the final installment of the first year of the Vashon Beethoven Quartet Project. The Girsky Quartet will be performing op. 18 no. 6 plus Haydn’s op. 77 no. 1 – ┬áboth composed in the year of 1799! An amazing juxtaposition of the mature Haydn and the youthful Beethoven.

Then, on June 19th, we celebrate our first year milestone with the Op. 18 Marathon. Six quartets at three different churches. Watch this blog for the details.

Vashon Island String Camp

The Vashon Island Cello Camp is now the Vashon Island String Camp! After the amazing success of our guest cellist/teacher Andrew Cook with his student groups winning national chamber music competitions, we have decided to open the camp to a few upper string players as well so that they can benefit from his expertise. The Quartet Project continues…..

Join us April 17th, 7:30pm at the Vashon Havurah Building for the penultimate concert of the 2015-16 season. The Girsky String Quartet continues their survey of the opus 18 quartets with op.18 no.5 plus Mozart’s gorgeous Bb major K. 589 quartet.

April 9th- A British Brunch



Join us for A British Brunch on Saturday April 9th at 11am at a lovely private home on Vashon Island. Rowena and Doug will be joined by Island favorites violinist Karin Choo and tenor Dr. Gary Koch, for a program of music from the British Isles. The musicale is a fundraiser to support the programs of Vashon Chamber Music. All reservations and donations are tax-deductible. Vashon Chamber Music is excited to announce the first Vashon Island Cello Camp. Geared towards the intermediate/advanced cellist ages 14 and up, the camp will take place August 9-14 at beautiful Camp Burton on Vashon Island. Join faculty Rowena Hammill, Douglas Davis, Charmian Bartlett and special guest from Los Angeles, Andrew Cook, for six days of concerts, practice, lessons, master classes and FUN!!

March 20 concert approaching…

Join us for Mozart and Beethoven at the next Vashon Chamber Music concert, March 20th, 7:30pm at the Havurah Building. Arthur Girsky, Natasha Bazhanov, Karin Choo on violin, Joseph Gottesman, Allison Kanter on viola and Douglas Davis on cello will play Mozart Quartet K.428 in Eb and Beethoven Quintet “Storm” in C major. Tickets at the Vashon Bookshop, or at the door.

Join the Girsky Quartet as we continue our exploration of the Beethoven masterpieces, this Sunday Jan 10 at 7:30pm at the Vashon Havurah Building , 15401 Westside Hwy. We will be playing op.18 no.2 of Beethoven and the delightful Haydn quartet op.76 no.3 “Emperor”. You can pay at the door or purchase tickets at the Vashon Book Shop or $20 general, $15 senior/students, 18 and under free. You can also still buy the series (5 concerts for the price of 4) at the door on Sunday.
